DIES AT AGE OF 105 WAS IN THREE WARS JOSEPH LASKOWSKI WAS MOST REMARKABLE MAN Tiled soil up to within last few days when he yields to Grim Reaper. Joseph Laskowski died Thursday afternoon at 3:14 o'clock at Crumstown, Indiana., aged 105 years. Until the Friday previous to his death he tilled his own farm on which he and his wife lived. Veteran of three great European wars, he was one of the most interesting characters of this county. He was born in Posen, Poland, March 1, 1809. While yet a native of Europe, he fought in the campaigns against Austria, against France and in the war of Germany with Denmark. In 1859 he emigrated to America, coming to South Bend where he lived for a few years before moving to Crumstown. In 1869, he married Marcyanna Dominiak, who survives him together with two sons and two daughters: GEORGE, JOHN, MRS ANTONIA KUJAWSKA AND MRS. WERONICA LASKOWSKA. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 : o'clock from St Stanislaus Catholic Church at Terre Coupee Ind. Rev. W Szczukowski officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Polish cemetery. |
