The strawberry season at our strawberry farm in the St. Louis Missouri metro area starts in a fairly wide time slot. Our earliest starting date ever for pick your own has been May 6 and the latest starting date has been June 1. A "normal" starting date would be about May 20. Peak strawberry picking for 2010 will probably be May 20 thru June 1.

Early berries are usually bigger but tend to be more scattered which means it takes longer to pick. The later berries usually have more sugar and are more flavorful. If you are interested in "really big" berries, try Cabot early in the season.
When the strawberry season ends can be quite variable and depends on weather, customer satisfaction, and temperature. Our strawberry season has ended as early as May 25, 1999-- due to a reoccurrence of the seedy berry problem we experienced several years ago-- and our strawberry season has ended as late as June 26. A "normal" end of picking date would be about June 15.

Special Notice On our Hours:
Be sure to call ahead (no earlier than the afternoon or evening before) for up-to-date hours and picking conditions. We may be closed certain days of the week. Heavy demand or weather conditions can also force us to stop picking before our normal closing hours.
