Climbing Straw Pyramid Haystack

(September & October)

In early September we stockpile the straw needed for mulching the strawberry plants over the winter. These straw bales are stacked in the form of a pyramid that kids love to climb. Our 2000-2007 pyramids contained roughly 1000 bales of straw and rose three stories off the ground.

In 2005 we eliminated the pumpkin display, removed most of the barricade tape to provide a greater area for climbing, and made it a "kids only" activity.
